Growing up Maria was surrounded by an array of pets. She remembers having 5 or more “furr siblings” at any given time. She is a firm believer that her canine-filled childhood is what has lead her to become the extreme dog lover that she is today. Maria is currently the happy owner of two exceptional dogs, Cleo and Cooper. They make her days brighter and her heart bigger. Recently married, she and her pet-loving husband decided to grow their family and decided to add two puppies. In July 2013 the brothers Todd and Google found a welcoming, and happy home with the Hampton’s.
Maria’s family also includes 2 hamsters, Miso and Soup, turtle named Scout, and her most recent surprise addition; a large feral tomcat that likes to let himself in through the doggy door in the wee hours of the morning. She named him “Noise.”
Though she attended the University of Mississippi for Criminal Justice and Sociology, her favorite pastime is, and will always remain, spending time with her pets. She’s working on writing a Blues song called “My Heart Has Four Legs”. She was elated to join the Homeward Bound team. Maria is excited to meet the vast array of the Homeward Bound client’s companions and is looking forward to a fulfilling future with Homeward Bound.
