Spring is in the air, and our furry friends are ready to enjoy these warmer and brighter days with us. The Bridgers Family have graciously shared some sweet tales of their two best friends Luna and Stella. Luna is their beloved Golden-Retriever, a breed for which this family has always had a fondness. They have lived with several “Goldens” over the years and find comfort in their gentle spirits. Miss Stella, their spunky Maltese, is the tiny big sister of the two. Kristy and David’s human children, Alli (25), Sara Caroline (20), and Winn (18) loved the book “Stellaluna” as children and used the names from this childhood memory to name this dynamic duo!
Kristy, a Meridian native and David, a Vicksburg native are both Ole Miss graduates who met in college. Kristy and David loved being raised in the south, so in 2005, decided to move back to Oxford so their children could experience that same up-bringing. The energy and excitement of a college town, coupled with its dynamic small-town charm was enough to set their decision in motion.
Now on the brink of becoming empty-nesters, Kristy and David find themselves filling more of their time with their furry babies regardless of their busy schedules. David, a gastroenterologist, and Kristy a personal-trainer, kindergarten teacher and community volunteer, always make time for car rides and long walks with the pups… even if Stella has to be carried most of the time! In their down time, Stella and Luna can be found enjoying peanut butter treats, sun-bathing, and lounging around the fire-pit at night singing ‘Kumbaya’ with the family 😉
Stella is held in the highest esteem by her best friend and sister, Luna. She always waits patiently for Stella to finish her meals first, and allows Stella to choose the biggest bed while she takes the remaining smaller bed for herself. Even when visiting the Spaw each month, Stella picks the biggest bed and likes to “sing” to Luna while she waits for sister 10 times her size, to be finished with her pampering. Through thick and thin, and Stella’s sassy moments, Luna can always be trusted to look after her sister. She never fails to alert Kristy if Stella has wandered into the front yard or any unchaperoned places that could pose trouble for her this little girl.
It’s true what they say; there is no greater bond than among sisters. Stella and Luna are two peas in a pod, and we are so grateful to have shared so many wonderful memories with them over the years. Please give a big Spring Smile to the Bridgers Family when you see them out with their girls enjoying this beautiful town that we call home.
