Are you ready? They are! Long-time Homeward Bound favorites and committed Ole Miss football fans, we are pleased to spotlight the Eicholtz family during this month of September, our 8th year anniversary which all started with our game-day let out service! They’ve been with us since the beginning when we first started caring for Boo (Radley-of To Kill A Mocking Bird) and their sweet Caroline (who left us, sadly, a few years ago) during home football games.
Saxonie and Tim have been on this life’s journey together for nearly 30 years. Having met in Columbus, MS while Tim was a pilot in training at the Air Force Base, they eloped in Las Vegas soon after meeting (Viva Las Vegas!). After many moves, many pets, the birth of their daughter Sunny, (now an adult herself) their lives have come full circle down here in Mississippi.
Their daughter Sunny moved to Oxford in 2005 to attend Ole Miss and mom, dad and “sisters” Caroline and Boo visited frequently, and most definitely during home football games. This is how we first met this beautiful family. In 2012, Sunny added her own member to the family when she adopted Mae Mobley, named after a favorite character in “The Help.” Sunny’s favorite quote; “You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”
After Sunny graduated in 2009 and accepted a position with the Alumni Association Sunny and Tim decided to make Oxford their permanent residence too. They’d made lots of friends and connections while visiting Oxford over the years and it certainly felt like home. It put them closer to Sunny, Mae Mobley and their family in Jackson is still a quick jaunt down Hwy 55! Mae Mobley has her sister Boo here too and for us at Homeward Bound, we have the added benefit of visiting with them both more often than just during football season.
We focus this month of September on the Eicholtz family and thank them for sharing their precious pups with us. Oh, and of course……. on football too. Hotty Toddy Y’all!
