‘Ollie’ and his family, Kevin, Sloan, Sam and Lilly must certainly have a life filled with daily fits of laughter. Ollie, is a Pug and Pugs are often described as the “clowns of the dog world”. They are the breed that might be the most like the perpetual boy himself, Peter Pan. They simply “won’t grow up”! True to his breed Ollie loves showing off, spinning in circles and of course play, play, play.
Kevin had a Pug, Chuchu, while growing up in Tupelo and Chuchu was a local star. He was the only Pug Tupelo had seen at the time. Being quite familiar with the loving and playful nature of this breed, the Hunters set out to locate just the right Pug puppy for their family. They found him in Georgia. Ollie was flown to Memphis and hearts began to pitter patter; it was love at first sight.
While the children’s good intentions to do ‘everything’ for their new puppy turned to the Kevin and Sloan’s daily responsibility, (a parent’s inevitable reality!) both have become good stewards for Ollie; Sam still takes the occasional break from college life to look in on him. Ollie however, is a ladies’ man, and Lilly is his little lady. He loves to show off for Lilly and her girlfriends always barking and running around to impress them. True to his breed, he prefers Lilly and friends to most toys. He is, however, an equal lover of snacks and is quite content to receive the occasional ‘Greenie’ treat!
Despite the Hunter’s best efforts to spoil their boy with expensive designer doggie beds, Ollie prefers a simple fuzzy crate liner, which he personalizes by biting off all the edges. When he’s not busy showing off for the girls, his favorite spot is on the stairway landing where he can monitor activities at the park from his ‘custom’ crate pad. Ollie, their laid back and unpretentious little man turns eight-years old this very month. It’s the perfect time for Homeward Bound to celebrate and shine a spotlight on one of our favorite furry friends!
