High school sweethearts Don and Carolyn Kessinger met in their tiny hometown of Forrest City, AK and relocated to Oxford when Don was selected as the head coach for the Ole Miss baseball team in 1990. He was awarded All-American in both Ole Miss basketball and baseball, leading to a successful career in MLB for 16 years, many of those years playing for the Cubs! The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree; their two sons, Kevin and Keith also played baseball for Ole Miss and both went on to sign with professional baseball teams. Established in 1994 by their son Kevin, the family owns and operates Kessinger Real Estate with their son Keith now at the helm.
Carolyn and Don’s two grandsons, Grae and Chase, have both inherited the “baseball gene” and are in the family business (the original one!). And baseball…. requires a lot of travel for these proud grandparents committed to attending as many games as possible. So after the loss of their 17 year old Shi Tzu Rebel, they decided to wait a few years before getting another dog. But as any dog lover knows, your heart and home begins to feel very empty and Carolyn started to get the itch. Not telling Don, she went on a puppy mission that led her to the cutest little black, toy-poodle you’ve ever met! The grandkids picked the name “Wrigley”. This was an obvious choice. With Don’s history with the Cubs and Grae playing at Wrigley field for an all-American game.
Like his athletic family, Wrigley knows his way around the field…the soccer field! Don and Carolyn kick the ball back and forth, and Wrigley loves to intercepts the pass, and takes off for his goal! Wrigley lives on a golf course, and while not a fan of the carts, everyone knows him by name. He loves to turn Tee time into Pee time! He’s a bit famous at several local drive-thru windows as well. He’s a chatty fellow and will talk from his car seat until he gets his drive-thru treat. Pup-puccino anyone?
Wrigley’s parents claim there is not a more loving puppy in the world. He’s really is so easy to fall in love with. Don and Carolyn adore this sweet little guy and know there is no pup more perfect for them. Please join us in celebrating the Kessinger Family: our July Pet Family of the Month!
