The Kimbrell Family
If one were ever to need to add “life” to a party, look no farther than the Kimbrell crew. Springer Spaniel, Ruby provides years of entertainment. She was influenced heavily by Chantel, mom and Allen, dad. She’s had much help from siblings Addison, 19, Avery, 18, Rivers, 13, and recently Kobe, lab, 8 months. Each member of this ensemble is a one man (or woman) show.
Ruby became a member of this cast during Christmas of 2011 as a gift to the family from Santa Claus. She has been a gift that has kept giving as long as you are giving to her. She loves lounging. Especially on the couch. And Ruby’s pet peeve is when she is made to get OFF the couch. She can be quite dramatic and long suffering about this. Kobe, she makes it known, is not really her cup of tea either. All he wants to do is wreak havoc in the house. The screened porch and countless pairs of shoes have fallen victim to his whimsy. Now that he spends most of his day taking in the outdoors, Ruby has noticed her landscaping is clearly suffered his wrath. We’ll reminder Ruby that he is still young, these are just juvenile antics!
Ruby does not generally like a car ride, so she does not vacation with the family to their favorite haunt, Rosemary Beach. However, she relishes her rides to the Spaw. She knows the car, and the Chauffeur and gets super pumped. Chantel decided to stop bringing her to the Spaw personally, and opted to use the Shuttle service to pick Ruby up and bring her to and from the Spaw after she quite literally refused to leave the Spaw after her second visit. She turned her back to Chantel and faced the entry door to Spaw heaven in protest:) ignoring her mom’s refrain; “Ruby, it’s time to go home”. Home is pretty plush Ruby, you should consider it! Ruby has become legend with the staff at the Spaw. The refrain is known well by all; “nobody loves the Spaw more than Ruby”. When her shuttle arrives she acts like she doesn’t know Chantel or any of the family members. Refusing to meet their eyes. After all, her “chauffeur” has arrived for her monthly serenity! At the end of her Spaw visits she puts on aires about leaving, just as she does with her parents. Can’t you see I’m relaxing! Why do I have to leave this haven? Eventually, with much coaxing, she accompanies her “attendant” and returns to her car for the journey home. It’s a pretty short trip. Once home, Ruby returns to herself (and her senses!) and resumes her routine of daily stick collecting. Her parents say “she goes to the Spaw to get dirty”. Because the first thing she does is run outside and collect branches and sticks to add to her sacred collection, rain or shine (mostly rain!). And so the cycle continues. Just like the days of our lives. Adding life to the party!
