Meet Beth, Paxton, Deuce and Bentley Little! Deuce, a Pit Bull Terrier/Boxer mix is big brother to Bentley, their ‘Baby Girl’ Pit Bull. Paxton’s family moved to Oxford from the Jackson area when he was in grade school. He spent his early childhood living in the same Jackson neighborhood where Beth grew up, but never met until both were attending the University of Mississippi.
After graduation, the couple moved to Asheville, NC where they rescued a Boxer-mix puppy. Deuce now four, is all grown up, and a proud, homemade-pizza eating show off, greeting Mom and Dad at the end of the day with his prize bones in his mouth. Deuce welcomed the arrival of pup Bentley with curiosity followed by a couple of hours of nervous drooling before finally cozying up to his new sister. Although a bit shy Bentley, the ‘Baby Girl’ has grown to become Deuce’s protector. She’s quite the ‘talker’ at home and loves to curl up on top of Deuce on the couch (usually on his head!).
Despite their ‘snuggle-bug’ profile these two maintain at home, both Deuce and Bentley are serious athletes! They are activities nuts and have every hiking, walking, fetching, playing gadget known to man and canine! They sport their own backpacks, carry their own food and water, and on their recent five-day trek on the Wind River Range near Pinedale, WY, these canine kids hiked thirty-miles landing above 10,000 ft. elevation!
The couple is expecting their first child, Harrison, in October and looking forward to introducing their fur babies to the newest family member. Paxton’s parents, Oxford residents Nelson and Cascielle Little, are also Homeward Bound favorites and dote on their grand-dogs, Deuce and Bentley. The pair is often found at the senior Little home, playing with their two French Bulldogs Sophie and Bella and Lab Cooper.
Before adopting Deuce and Bentley, neither Paxton nor Beth had Pit Bulls as family members. When they were ready to adopt, they researched short-haired breeds, deciding on the loyal American Pit Bull Terrier. Beth says it was the best decision and they will never own another breed!
Deuce and Bentley are the topic of much conversation between the pet nannies for their playful and fun approach to life. The conversation typically ends with the phrase…”I love them!” We hope the feeling is mutual.
