Creativity, love, and compassion are just some of the attributes that come to mind when we think of our August Pet Family of the Month; The Morgans! While Ed, Rene, Margie, and Edward make up the human contingent of this bunch, it is Jake and Mister, their furry babies, who make this family whole.
Speaking of whole, or rather Hole, it is this Los Angeles based band that actually gave their precious kitty Mister his original name: Miss World. This little show stopper has a tendency own every room he enters! With his handsome fur and nonchalant attitude, one would be hard pressed not to notice him. Though an initial vet checkup called for his name change, Miss World isn’t the only moniker bestowed upon this kitty. His subsequent name, Mr. Orange, came from the Quentin Tarantino classic Reservoir Dogs. Daughter Margie eventually settled on Mister, which seems like the perfect understatement to this sweetie’s big personality.
Though he may seem somewhat more mild mannered than Mister, Jake refuses to play second fiddle to anyone. While playing fiddle may be out of the question, singing to one is a different story all together! Don’t let this demure little pup fool you. He can belt out tunes with the best of them. While he enjoys the radio, he prefers to lend his vocal accompaniments to his family members. The Homeward Bound Team was lucky enough to hear him perform live, and needless to say, we were beyond impressed. We are forming a Jake fan club. While singing may be his forte, in his downtime, he loves to watch television. Movies, Animal Plant, TCM, Jake doesn’t care as long as he is sitting (or lying upside down) in the laps of the humans he loves. Such a cutie!
It goes without saying the Morgan’s are completely devoted to their pets, but their love of animals isn’t only extended to ones that share their last name. In their spare time, they enjoy volunteering at the Oxford Lafayette Humane Society. In shelters, often times the cutest, youngest, and most outgoing pets get all the attention. For this family, it is frequently the shy or -ahem- more beauty challenged pets that seem the most deserving of love and attention. While others are drawn to all the darling little puppies, Rene, Edward, and Margie love to seek out those who fly under the radar of many potential pet parents. What a class act! Congratulations Morgan family and thank you for being Homeward Bound’s August Pet Family of the Month!
