The Renfores have shared their family with us for quite a few years now and we are thrilled to recognize them as our September 2014 Pet Family of the Month!
Dr. Land Renfroe and his wife Lauren moved their family Liza Carole, Anna and Harris to Oxford almost ten years ago for a career opportunity in Oxford’s growing medical community. After getting their family settled, adding a family dog seemed the next step. They met a neighbor’s King Charles Cavalier Spaniel and this became the obvious breed of choice. They found ‘Decker’ in Atlanta, born on Christmas Day. The Cavalier breeder had already christened the red and white pup ‘Deck The Halls’; so the family shortened his name to Decker, and it suits him perfectly!
Decker was one of Homeward Bound’s first in-home grooming clients and became known for his over the top flirting with the groomers. He loves to be touched and a few extra kisses followed by his eyelash batting always gets him some extra loving before he finally falls asleep while being pampered on the grooming table. Decker is a lover but also a bit of a neighborhood star too. Always ready for a walk when his pet nanny arrives, “Hey Dexter” is heard all along the way from both neighbors and passers-by as he holds his tail high in the air. When taking trips to the family farm Decker relishes the opportunity to take on a dirty adventure while out exploring. The Homeward Bound Staff thinks he gets extra dirty to ensure additional time with his groomer Paige! Once touted by son Harris as his best friend, Decker and Harris are also regular wrestling buddies. Mila, the family cat, does a bit of wrestling too but with other creatures, and she always wins. She loves presenting the family with gifts of her defeated rodent and critter rivals. Named during her time as a rescued kitty at the Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society, Mila was a surprise for Liza Carole, Anna and Harris from their dad last fall. She was also a surprise to Lauren, having been adopted while she was away from home traveling! And a lovely one at that.
Thanks Renfroe family for allowing us to share in such wonderful times with the furr members of your family.
