Terry and Basil Richmond are the proud parents of Izzy! A delightful golden-doodle who is one of the happiest girls in the world and our spotlight this month! She loves her monthly Spaw visits and stops by often on her morning walks with Mom to say “Hey”, grab a treat, get a drink of water and of course potty! On evening walks, the family likes to frequent Yaya’s for gelato or froyo… and Izzy always gets the last bite ????. Izzy loves everyone and everyone loves her, so it is only natural that she has been trained and certified as a therapy dog with her mom and they are now a therapy team!
Izzy is a star in her family as well. She has three human siblings: Ginny, Justin, and Craig. Between the 3 siblings they have 5 grandchildren and one on the way. Craig accompanied Terry to pick up his new sister from Doodle Heaven in Arkansas, where she was born. She is named “Izzy” after her mother, Bella (Isabella). As sweet as she came, she lives. Granddaughter Mary Rose loves to come visit Izzy who shares her many toys with her. Izzy never disembowels her toys so she has accumulated an entire basket full of them over the years. The only toys that come to pass are those suffering from wear and deterioration from too much love. In fact, she still has the toy the breeder sent home with her! But one of Mary Roses favorite games to play is “Spaw” with Izzy. Mary Rose says “let’s pretend I got a text from Homeward Bound saying ‘your precious pup is ready to be picked up from the Spaw.” This is the message sent to pup parents letting them know the Spaw session is completed.
Last year, the Richmonds took Izzy on her first family vacation back to her home state of Arkansas. On their journey to Bluff City, they stopped in the town of Hardy to do a little shopping. Of course, Izzy wanted to shop too and all the shops welcomed Izzy with open arms and smiles. They loved having her in their establishments and no one questioned her presence. Upon arriving at their destination more fun ensued! They fished in the river and settled around the campfire outside of their cabin. After a week of outdoor fun, Izzy was in desperate need of a Spaw visit which she received upon her return to Oxford. Clearly an outdoors girl, she is also a creature of comforts. She was rejuvenated, and of course quite pampered and again ready; to breath in the fresh air, seek the fire light, take in a star, and continue to be warm spot in the hearts and lives of our community. When you see that beautiful happy face trotting on the square give a warm smile and wave. It will surely be reciprocated with a wide smile from Izzy!
