The Sieberts December 2013

December 2, 2013 By Homeward Bound

Siebert2 (1)
Denny, Bonnie, Sarah, Cole & Busy

We are delighted to have Cole and Busy Siebert and their human family, Denny, Bonnie and Sarah as our December Pet Family of the Month! Both dogs are “children” to Ole Miss student Sarah. However; Mom and Dad have currentl custody of their two grand dogs who are living the spoiled grand-dog life!

Bonnie and Denny ‘rescued’ chocolate lab Cole from a Chicago pet store as a holiday surprise for Sarah. Suffering from kennel cough, the sick little puppy was presented in a Christmas gift bag to Sarah, but because he felt so bad, little Cole did no wiggling or barking from his hiding place and was truly a surprise! Cole got lots of love and attention and today Bonnie says he is King Cole of the castle. Denny and now dog-teen Cole have a special bond – the family credits Cole with saving Denny’s life several years ago after Denny suffered from a serious diabetic complication causing him to pass out and take a tumble in the backyard. The usually quiet and laid-back Cole made such a noisy fuss, he brought the family running where they discovered Denny and quickly got the needed medical attention. What a hero! Cole is slowing down a bit now, with a few health issues, but loves to lie on the couch and watch TV with Denny.

Sister black lab Busy knows Cole is taking it easy these days and will bring toys over to the resting Cole and lie down with him to keep him company. The two also have a common interest in the TV – Cole watching TV with Dad; Busy loves the remote control. Or remote controls, plural, as she has devoured fifteen of them in her short two years! She has also made an apparently delicious meal out of a few pairs of reading glasses, several shoes, and two sets of hearing aids. And Busy gets interior design credit for the living room rug – the bright orange color in the pattern was contributed by Busy after eating vast quantities of Halloween candy corn. Are you beginning to see how Busy got her name? Sarah says as a new puppy, she was into everything and ‘always in your business’ so she picked the name after she watched an actress named Busy Phillips recognized on a TV awards show. The light bulb went off and she’s been ‘Busy’ ever since. Bonnie adds that Busy is currently under house arrest, kenneled whenever the family is not at home.
