Please help us ring in the New Year by spotlighting The Tuckers as our featured Pet Family of the Month! Robby and Lisa Tucker rescued their beautiful Schnauzer/Shih Tzu mix from Precious Paws Rescue in Collierville, TN. The moment Lisa saw her picture on Petfinder.org, she was hooked and fell in love with her big beautiful eyes. They named her Lola and she was instantly part of their family. In addition to Lola, Robby and Lisa also have two daughters; Carley (27) and Mallory (22). Carley, married Giles Langston, are now starting a family of her own, while Mallory is currently studying at Mississippi State.
The Tucker family are all Alumnus of Mississippi State and it’s where Lisa met Robby over 30 years ago through mutual friends and also how Carley met Giles while pursuing her degree in Veterinary Medicine. She currently practices at Mannsdale Animal Clinic in Madison, MS and Giles is an ER doctor at UMMC in Jackson. Mallory is keeping the family legacy alive and finishing her senior year at MS state; and Lola is naturally thought to be an honorary graduate by the family.
Like many rescue pets, Lola has a true ‘rags to riches’ story. When she was rescued from the streets of Collierville, she was covered in mats and fleas resulting in a very sad and aloof demeanor. The Tucker family provided as much love and patience as possible, but Lola didn’t accept treats or toys from the family. Overtime, with the patience and persistence of the family Lola made a complete 180 and can be found munching on all the treats her heart desires and cuddling with her ‘babies’. She is very protective over her ‘babies’ now and if anyone steps on them and causes a squeak, Lola will come running to make sure they are okay ???? Once she has assessed the squeaky situation and confirmed all is OK, she will collect all of her toys and place them out of harm’s way.
Lola truly lives a life of luxury knows that she is as lucky to have her family as they are to have her. She accompanies her parents on road-trips to Starkville, rides with her dad for a trip to PetSmart, enjoys lazy days by the pool, and frequents the Homeward Bound Spaw for her monthly pampering retreat. Her given name, Lola, is very appropriate, Lisa says “I think of the song “Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets” pretty much sums it up”. She is one of the sweetest and most wonderful pups around and we are so happy to have her in the Homeward Bound family.
Happy New Year to you and yours!
